Smelly House

I called Tyson on my way home from work on Thursday and asked him to put some chicken in the oven for dinner.  He called me back after a couple of minutes saying he could not find the chicken anywhere.  We both knew that we still had frozen chicken breasts left over after he had cooked dinner on Wednesday, but alas...they were not in the freezer, nor anywhere else in our house (or so we thought).  After getting home and looking everywhere (since I never can trust Tyson's "searching" skills), the chicken really was nowhere to be found.  We assumed he must have accidentally thrown the bag away and he had taken the garbage out that day.

Tyson and I came home late Friday night to a smelly house and woke up this morning to an even smellier one.  We searched for the smell everywhere.  Closets, fridge, garbage, pantry, dishwasher, cupboards, garbage disposal-but the stench was a mystery.  Tonight, Tys had a renewed determination to discover the source of the smell.  After about 30 seconds of searching, he opened the drawer underneath the oven and found the 4 day old, now raw, reeking bag of chicken.  Never a dull moment living with Tys..bless his heart.

I guess it is time for my quarterly blog post!  Prepare yourself for a long one.  First off, someone tried to break into our house last night.  I hate it when that happens.  They basically ran away because they were scared of me...naturally, but I have since come up with an action plan if it ever happens again.  If they knows what's best for them...they will never come back.  Seriously though..it was terrifying.

On a happier note, let me introduce you to one of my most prized possessions.

Tys and I were in St. George with my Mom and being the bargain shopper she is, we got dragged to the DI for some browsing.  Little did I know I would fall in love that day.  She was perfect.  A true gem.  Beautiful wood, great condition, and sews like a charm.  I would love to have more time to sew, but I have already put my 1952 beauty to good use.

On that note...some crafts of late.

That my friends, is the face of a man who LOVES. to craft.

In March we were able to spend some time in St. George with some of my favorite girls!  I really do have the cutest nieces!

ps.  my brother is amazing.  he inherited enough athleticism to make up for the rest of us kids.

We even got some scooter time!  Tyson loves that I make us wear helmets.  I don't know about you, but I don't want my brain to become mashed potatoes.

Then...my mom and I got to go to the City Creek Charity Gala before the mall opened.  I fell in love.

So naturally I went 3 times that week...

Last week we went to the Jazz vs. Suns game with my parents and sat in the executive suite!  Amazing food and great game!

Got to spend the weekend watching Max and Henny Badger.

My favorite thing to wake up to :)

Did I mention...I am in love with Miss Amri Mae!  She just turned 1 and couldn't be sweeter!

And when I ask Tyson for a cup of milk to drink...he brings me this.  What a smart ace....I love that man.

Longest blog post ever.  Have a great May!

I am the luckiest..

Two years ago today Tyson proposed and my life changed forever.  I am the luckiest girl.  I have been thinking a lot about how blessed I am to have married someone who is perfect for me, imperfect me.  Someone who inspires me to be better and who continually meets my needs.  I am so grateful for my knowledge of eternal marriage and couldn't imagine spending forever with anyone else.  I was reading through http://www.ablogaboutlove.com/ today and came across a post that really made me think.  The husband talks about, before he was married, having a list of "musts" for his future spouse and then other characteristics that would be nice to have, but not absolutely necessary.

I have been thinking about what my "musts" and "nice to haves" were and how Tyson fits those expectations.  Most importantly, Tys shares my core values and possess all of the characteristics I saw as essential in my spouse.  He is spiritual, loving, kind, respectful, and hard working. I would say "musts" are the foundation of any relationship, hence their vital nature, but the "nice to haves" continually enhance our relationship and tend to be those things that make me fall more in love everyday...the way he can make me laugh-even why I am trying my hardest to stay upset, how great he is with our nieces and nephews, his mad skills on the guitar, his excitement and eagerness to be a dad, how he teaches me not to take myself so seriously, how protective he is of my closest friends, how he loves watching Bachelor & Bachelorette as much as I do (if not more), his eternal perspective, how he inserts my name into every song, his willingness to fix me breakfast every morning at 6:30, his love for his family, I could go on and on...but I will just say, Tyson is perfect for me and I am totally smitten.

PS. I am obsessed with this song and hearing Tys play and sing it melts my heart...

Not my strong point..

So it has been three months since I have written a post...obviously this isn't one of my strengths, but I will keep trying :)  Here are the last three months in pictures...

One left over from October...Ava and I were matchy matchy for Halloween :) Tyson wouldn't dress up with me, but I couldn't resist my favorite bumble bee costume.

Toward the beginning of December we had a birthday dinner for these three boys.  They have been celebrating their birthdays together since elementary-ish.  So presh!  Thanks to everyone who came and made it such a fun night!

We were so happy that Allison and Nick could make it!  Logan is too far away...

Naturally, I was terrible about taking pictures at Christmas, but here is one of all the Oldroyd boys on Christmas Eve in their new matching gear!

Jury is in. I have the cutest nieces in the world.  Baby Amri is growing up so fast!  She has so much personality and is already trying to walk at 8 months.  We love getting to play with her and spend time with Lindsay and Sam.

Merry Christmas!

Tyson's big Christmas present and our tree ;) He had to wait until late Christmas night to open it, but was so so excited!

Wow.

I took some time off work over New Years and we got to spend 5 days in St. George with my family.  It was amazing to be able to take a break and enjoy the 70 degree weather!

Bowling with Kellie and her fam

Love this girl.

He's pretty cute too I guess ;)

Our annual midnight kiss picture!  Happy 2012!

Mickey mouse? A bear?  My dad got quite creative with his pancake making skills.

She is too cute.

My dearest Katelyn just got home from her mission!  And it is a good thing...I don't know how much longer I would have survived without her.  We had a wonderful reunion and hopefully I will see her face again soon.  What an amazing girl.  So so happy she is home!

Have you ever seen a better face?  mmm....no.

This past weekend I went to San Diego for a work meeting.  I was kinda nervous about traveling alone, but turned out to be really fun.  There is nothing like sitting by the ocean when it is 80 degrees in January!
I am so over Winter.

These naval ships are enormous.  Really incredible to watch.

I miss this.

On Saturday we went to the BYU game with some friends and had 2nd row seats!  It turned out to be a great game!  Loved it!

Happy Birthday to my amazing mom!  Who knew 56 could look this good?!  Love you Mom!

Well there you have it.  Let's hope I get better at this!
