Norah is One Month (+some)

Well the last 7 1/2 weeks since Norah June joined our family have flown by.  Motherhood has been an incredible adventure thus far and I am amazed by how I can love someone so small so much.  Norah is growing so fast and my love for her grows everyday!  We feel so blessed to have little NoJu in our lives.  I missed her one month post, so I figured I'd make it up now before she is two months old!

Some things about Norah at one month:

Tucks her thumbs into her fists...just like grandpa.
Talks in her sleep...just like Mom.
Loves being outside in warm St. George.
Loves looking at natural light through the window.
Has been crossing her feet (and eyes) since she was born.
Hates baths, but loves having her hair washed once she is wrapped in her towel.
Has such strong neck and loves to bob it and look around.
Poops in her towel after almost every bath.
Lets her arms go limp a good majority of the time. (They are so fun to play with!)
Has started to grow into her skin, but still has a good amount of loose skin on the back of her neck (I love it!).
Gets a little sweaty head anytime she falls asleep with her head touching your skin.
Loves to sleep on anyone's chest, especially Mom’s (though I don't know who loves it more!).

Prepare for a major photo overload!

Norah's Nursery

Well, we are all moved in and mostly settled!  And can I say how much I love our home?!  It is so fun to have a place of our own!  Still have some furniture projects to start...and finish and eventually I guess I should think about hanging something on the walls, but for now I am just happy to have finished Norah's nursery.  It has been so fun to finish all my sewing and painting projects and create a space for her.  I love how it turned out!

Now all we are waiting for is a little Norah baby to join us!

The Update

I am terrible at blogging, so for the quick update...we moved to St. George in February for Tyson's first big boy job!  He works for a software company and is loving it!  We are enjoying every minute of the warm weather down here and love being so close to my parents and much of Tyson's extended family.  In a matter of a few days we will be closing on and moving into our first home!

We weren't planning on finding a house so quickly and were actually going to stay put until the end of the summer, but we found this beauty and I fell in love!  So now it is a race to get in and settled before this baby girl comes in a matter of weeks.

We couldn't be more excited to welcome baby Norah June into the world and are so grateful for all that our friends and family have done to help us get ready for her!

My favorite girls got together for lunch and brought such darling gifts for her!  I have the best friends!

My wonderful friends at work threw a shower and were so generous!  I have missed them so much since I moved!

My mom and sister hosted a wonderful shower with our family and friends in Salt Lake.  It was so fun to get to spend time with them!

We are so excited for the upcoming changes in our lives and feel so incredibly blessed to be welcoming a baby girl into our family!

Smelly House

I called Tyson on my way home from work on Thursday and asked him to put some chicken in the oven for dinner.  He called me back after a couple of minutes saying he could not find the chicken anywhere.  We both knew that we still had frozen chicken breasts left over after he had cooked dinner on Wednesday, but alas...they were not in the freezer, nor anywhere else in our house (or so we thought).  After getting home and looking everywhere (since I never can trust Tyson's "searching" skills), the chicken really was nowhere to be found.  We assumed he must have accidentally thrown the bag away and he had taken the garbage out that day.

Tyson and I came home late Friday night to a smelly house and woke up this morning to an even smellier one.  We searched for the smell everywhere.  Closets, fridge, garbage, pantry, dishwasher, cupboards, garbage disposal-but the stench was a mystery.  Tonight, Tys had a renewed determination to discover the source of the smell.  After about 30 seconds of searching, he opened the drawer underneath the oven and found the 4 day old, now raw, reeking bag of chicken.  Never a dull moment living with Tys..bless his heart.

5.01.2012

I guess it is time for my quarterly blog post!  Prepare yourself for a long one.  First off, someone tried to break into our house last night.  I hate it when that happens.  They basically ran away because they were scared of me...naturally, but I have since come up with an action plan if it ever happens again.  If they knows what's best for them...they will never come back.  Seriously though..it was terrifying.

On a happier note, let me introduce you to one of my most prized possessions.

Tys and I were in St. George with my Mom and being the bargain shopper she is, we got dragged to the DI for some browsing.  Little did I know I would fall in love that day.  She was perfect.  A true gem.  Beautiful wood, great condition, and sews like a charm.  I would love to have more time to sew, but I have already put my 1952 beauty to good use.

On that note...some crafts of late.

That my friends, is the face of a man who LOVES. to craft.

In March we were able to spend some time in St. George with some of my favorite girls!  I really do have the cutest nieces!

ps.  my brother is amazing.  he inherited enough athleticism to make up for the rest of us kids.

We even got some scooter time!  Tyson loves that I make us wear helmets.  I don't know about you, but I don't want my brain to become mashed potatoes.

Then...my mom and I got to go to the City Creek Charity Gala before the mall opened.  I fell in love.

So naturally I went 3 times that week...

Last week we went to the Jazz vs. Suns game with my parents and sat in the executive suite!  Amazing food and great game!

Got to spend the weekend watching Max and Henny Badger.

My favorite thing to wake up to :)

Did I mention...I am in love with Miss Amri Mae!  She just turned 1 and couldn't be sweeter!

And when I ask Tyson for a cup of milk to drink...he brings me this.  What a smart ace....I love that man.

Longest blog post ever.  Have a great May!
